Chumphon provincial police are looking for two divers for allegedly spearfishing in the territory of Mu Ko Chumphon marine national park and also the owner of a tour boat who took the two divers to the dive site.
A complaint was lodged with Paknam Chumphon police today (March 28) by Mr Silapachai Prompichai, chief of Mu Ko Chumphon national park, accusing the two divers whose identities remain unknown of illegal spearfishing in the marine park.
Mr Silapachai's complaint to the police followed a video clip posted in the Facebook account of Tep Keerati showing two divers carrying their spear guns.
According to the Facebook post, the two divers appeared to have caught at least five fish and one of them tried to board his boat, apparently, mistook it as his which was anchored just a stone's throw away.
Mr Silapachai said he had checked the divers' tour boat, named Oat Diving, and found out that it did not have a license to operate tour business.
He said that illegal fishing in marine park was a violation of Section 16 (3) and (15) of the National Park Act B.E. 2504.
