Bang bua thong: Bang Bua Thong police have apprehended a young man accused of murdering his girlfriend and concealing her body in a condominium. The suspect was arrested in Chiang Mai province and will face prosecution in the area where the crime occurred. He has confessed to the crime but maintains that he did not intend to kill her.
According to Thai News Agency, the body of 25-year-old online vendor, Dream, was discovered on May 2nd in her condo located in Bang Bua Thong District, Nonthaburi Province. The victim was found face down beside her bed, clad only in underwear, with two pillows covering her head. Authorities discovered a diary belonging to her boyfriend, Nitirran, with entries hinting at someone trying to harm him and requests for her to take care of his cats and belongings. The initial suspect, Nitirran, 32, who was also the victim's boyfriend, reportedly fled the apartment on April 30th.
The suspect, Mr. Nitiran, was apprehended by Mae Ping Police Station officers on May 3rd at a hotel in Chiang Mai Province. That evening, investigators from Bang Bua Thong Police Station took him into custody and transported him back to Nonthaburi Province for legal proceedings. Authorities read an arrest warrant, charging him with intentional homicide, although he initially claimed his actions were unintentional. Reports suggest that during questioning, Nitiran confessed to the crime. He revealed that he abandoned his car in Suphan Buri Province and took a bus to Chiang Mai before being captured.
Police are expediting their investigation into the murder and the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the girlfriend's body in the condo. Mr. Nitiran was brought to Bang Bua Thong Police Station early in the morning on May 4th. Initially reluctant to reenact the crime, he will be detained for further investigation into his motives. Authorities are also examining whether he has any mental illness, although a drug test returned negative results.
When asked about his reasons for the murder, Mr. Nitiran expressed remorse, apologizing to Dream and her family and insisting that the incident was unintentional. He professed his love for her but could not recall the argument's cause. He denied rumors of infidelity on either side.
The incident unfolded on May 2nd when Nitirarn's parents, unable to contact their son, visited his condo. After failing to reach him, they asked the condo management to open his apartment with a spare key, only to find Dream deceased inside. Nitirarn was not present. Police reviewed CCTV footage from the condo, revealing that on April 29th, Nitirarn and Dream returned to their apartment. On April 30th at 4:30 PM, Nitirarn was seen leaving alone, leading police to suspect the victim died around this time.
There is unverified information regarding Nitirarn's psychiatric condition, with his parents claiming he suffered from mental illness. They stated that their son lived with the victim as husband and wife for over five years. He rarely took his medication, frequently argued with Dream about her phone use, and displayed paranoia and fear of being harmed. The victim also reportedly suffered from depression.
