Mai Market Companies Report Robust Second Quarter Profits in 2026

Bangkok: Companies listed on the Market for Alternative Investment (mai) reported a net profit exceeding 2.2 billion baht in the second quarter of 2026, marking a 4.3% increase compared to the previous year. According to Thai News Agency, the companies achieved sales of 57,236 million baht, reflecting a 13.1% growth. This contributed to an operating profit of 8,432 million baht for the first half of 2026, up by 21.5%, and a total net profit of 4,774 million baht, a 17.1% rise, indicating effective cost management strategies.

Mr. Prapan Charoenprawat, Manager of the mai, disclosed that 216 out of 222 listed companies have submitted their financial results for the second quarter of 2026. These companies reported a total sales increase of 13.1% to 57,236 million baht, an operating profit rise of 29.6% to 4,378 million baht, and a net profit growth of 4.3% to 2,205 million baht. The gross profit margin slightly decreased from 26.1% to 25.3%, while the operating profit margin improved from 6.7% to 7.6%. The net profit margin saw a slight decline from 4.1% to 3.8%.

For the first half of 2026, total sales reached 108,868 million baht, an 8.5% increase, with an operating profit of 8,432 million baht, up by 21.5%. The total net profit stood at 4,774 million baht, showing a 17.1% increase. Mr. Prapan noted that the growth was maintained despite uneven recovery in purchasing power across sectors and challenges such as raw material and energy cost volatility as well as geopolitical factors. Companies sustained profitability through controlled expenses and business restructuring, leading to notable sales and profit increases in sectors like industrial goods, agriculture and food, and services. However, consumer goods, real estate, and technology sectors faced ongoing pressures.

In terms of financial health, companies listed on the mai reported total assets of 315,206 million baht, a 3.9% increase from the end of 2025. The debt-to-equity ratio rose to 0.77 times from 0.70 times at the end of 2025. As of August 26, 2026, there are 230 companies listed on the mai, with the index closing at 229.74 points. The total market capitalization stands at 224,016.75 million baht, and the average daily trading volume is 429.89 million baht.
