Lopburi: The Lopburi police are urgently investigating the ambush shooting of a former colonel, who was gunned down at the entrance to his residence in the Chon Saradet Subdistrict, Nong Muang District. The victim, 71-year-old Phan-Saksadet, was shot more than 10 times with a 12-gauge shotgun while lying next to his bicycle.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident took place last night near the victim’s home. The Lopburi Police Chief has visited the scene to expedite the investigation, establishing three possible motives for the murder. Police from Nong Muang Police Station discovered a spent 12-gauge shotgun shell in a nearby cornfield. The deceased’s wife, Mrs. Aree, mentioned that her husband was a well-mannered man who enjoyed cycling. She recounted hearing gunshots before finding her husband lying face down, initially thinking he had fainted but then noticing the blood. She was bewildered by the incident and urged the police to uncover the truth.
CCTV footage captured a suspicious man on a motorcycle leaving the scene shortly after the gunshots. Pol. Maj. Gen. Yanyong Santipreechawat, Commander of the Lopburi Provincial Police, has reviewed the footage and is leading the investigation into the possible motives, which remain undisclosed.
