Bangkok:Their Majesties the King and Queen attended the premiere of the Khon performance titled "Sita," organized by the Foundation for the Promotion of Arts and Crafts. The event took place at the Main Auditorium of the Thailand Cultural Centre in Huai Khwang District.
According to Thai News Agency, the premiere was held on the evening of November 1, 2026, at 734 PM. The King and Queen were received by Air Chief Marshal Sathitpong Sukvimol and other dignitaries, including Ms. Sabida Thaiseth, Minister of Culture, and Mrs. Chotika Akkarakit Sopakul, Director-General of the Department of Cultural Promotion.

The Khon depicted scenes from the Ramakien epic, showcasing Sita's birth, marriage to Rama, and her journey through the forest, among other pivotal events. The stage design was inspired by traditional Thai art, with scenes such as "Sita's Ordeal by Fire" and the "Royal Wedding Ceremony of Rama and Sita" highlighting the beauty of Thai culture.
Following the performance, His Majesty instructed Air Vice Marshal Phakdi Saeng-Chuto to present royal bouquets to National Artists and other representatives involved in the production. The "Sita" performance will run from November 5th to December 10th, 2026, at the Thailand Cultural Centre.
