Prachinburi:The transfer of inmates from Kabin Buri Prison has been successfully completed following flooding in the area.
According to Thai News Agency, Police Lieutenant General Ruttapol Naowarat, Minister of Justice, discussed the situation, confirming that the relocation of approximately 300-400 inmates to Sa Kaeo Province was carried out smoothly and concluded without issues by evening. Despite flooding affecting several central and regional prison buildings, including those in Bangkok and surrounding areas, the Department of Corrections has managed the situation without needing additional relocations.
Ruttapol further explained that while regional prisons like Kabin Buri and Lop Buri were severely impacted, only Kabin Buri required inmate relocation. The situation at Lop Buri Prison, although affected by flooding, did not necessitate moving inmates. He acknowledged that repairs were necessary in several areas due to the damage reported.
Concerns about security and escape plans were addressed during the relocation process. Additionally, Ruttapol noted that while he had not yet received reports of damage in the western region, preparations were underway in all locations. In Kanchanaburi province, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice is personally overseeing the situation to ensure readiness and response to any developments.
