Bangkok: The working group dedicated to combating call center gangs is set to convene on October 20th to address the recent revelations concerning a scam network with an operational base in Bangkok. Justice Minister Pol. Lt. Gen. Ruttapol Naowarat disclosed that the Prime Minister's task force, aimed at suppressing call center gangs, will gather to discuss findings related to a scammer network company. This company has been identified as having established an office in the capital city.
According to Thai News Agency, the US Department of Justice recently seized Bitcoin assets worth approximately US$15 billion, which were held by Mr. Chen Zhi, also known as Vincent, a British-Cambodian citizen of Chinese descent. Mr. Chen is facing prosecution on charges including wire fraud and money laundering. These charges are linked to his involvement with the Prince Group, accused of running a forced labor scam and forming a significant scam network in Cambodia. Investigations by media outlets have connected a website bearing the Prince Group's logo and name to investments in multiple real estate ventures in Thailand. The Prince Group operates under Prince International Company Limited, a London-based entity with branches in Taipei, Taiwan, Bangkok, London, and Phnom Penh, Cambodia. This company boasts an extensive overseas real estate portfolio encompassing over 3.6 million square meters and more than 5 million square meters of development space, featuring condominiums, clubs, shopping malls, offices, hotels, villas, and islands.
The company's website, Taiwan Prince Real Estate Investment, displays a contact number with the Taiwan code and asserts involvement in real estate projects owned by major corporations. The Justice Minister indicated that although there is no current information available, authorities will delve into the matter to ascertain potential connections between the cases. The task force, established by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, is scheduled to conduct its inaugural meeting on Monday, October 20, 2025. This afternoon session will involve relevant agencies in discussions on how to proceed with the investigation.
Simultaneously, Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong Phiwpaen, Deputy Inspector-General of the Royal Thai Police, commented that in light of the revelations, the Royal Thai Police have instructed Pol. Lt. Gen. Jiraphop Phuridet, Assistant Commissioner-General, to lead a comprehensive investigation. This will include identifying all parties involved, though the police have requested time to thoroughly complete their inquiry.
