Songkhla:Mr. Juri Numkaew, a Member of Parliament for Constituency 2, Songkhla Province, representing the Democrat Party, has called on the government to address the issue of missing flood relief payments. Thousands of households remain without the compensation they are entitled to, raising concerns as the next flood season approaches.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Juri highlighted that over 90 percent of the compensation payments for house repairs due to the 2025 floods have been distributed. However, the process halted, leaving many, especially in Hat Yai District and Songkhla Province, without funds. Approximately 1,000 households are still waiting for compensation.
When government agencies were questioned, they stated that the budget was exhausted and the matter was closed, which Mr. Juri deemed unfair. He emphasized that the citizens' exclusion was due to government errors, not their fault. Though the law does not permit appeals, Mr. Juri suggested informal negotiations to resolve the compensation issue. He also mentioned that a complaint had been submitted to expedite the process for those omitted from the list.
Mr. Juri urged the Prime Minister and relevant departments to act swiftly, as the monsoon season will begin in just over 10 days. He called for a review to restore justice to the affected people whose names were left off the compensation list.
