Jokowi calls on Indonesians to have mutual respect

Indonesian President Joko Jokowi Widodo called on all Indonesians to maintain mutual respect with one another and to become a hard-working nation that is optimistic and productive, The Jakarta Post Online reported on Wednesday.

In a Christmas message delivered during his visit to Minahasa, North Sulawesi, on Tuesday, the president said: we are brothers and sisters of one country and one nation. Thus, we should not continue to besmirch, find fault in and defame one another.

He further said all Indonesians should protect the pride of the nation. Therefore, we greatly need Indonesians who are independent, honest, liberated and can uphold justice so there will be no gap between the rich and poor because our common enemy is corruption, he added.
