Phuket: Chabad Patong is preparing the venue for tomorrow's Jewish New Year celebration. After organizers of the Jewish New Year celebration confirmed they would proceed with religious ceremonies at "Chabad Patong" tomorrow, a Thai News Agency team visited the site this morning and found that the organizers had prepared the venue. Meanwhile, the Phuket Land Protection Group has also scheduled a rally for tomorrow.
According to Thai News Agency, their news team went to "Chabad Patong" on Rat Uthit 200 Pi Road, Kathu District, Phuket Province, to request an interview with the venue's manager regarding preparations for tomorrow's Jewish New Year celebration. Initially, the security guard contacted the secretary of the Chabad manager, who was out on assignment and later informed us that they were not available to provide information but provided a phone number for further contact.
The atmosphere this morning remains quiet, with a sporadically arriving and leaving. Inside, electricians are beginning to set up wiring in preparation for the event. Upon inquiry, the security guard at the guard post stated that last year there was a large turnout, but this year the number is expected to decrease considerably. He was unaware of the details of the activities inside the event as his responsibility only involves security at the front entrance. Normally, passport checks are conducted to verify identity before entering the area. There are no specific orders for additional security measures tomorrow.
Regarding the schedule for tomorrow's Jewish New Year celebrations, originally planned from 4:00 PM to midnight, discussions yesterday have led to an earlier end time of 9:00 PM. The number of attendees will also be limited to approximately 800, down from the initially projected 1,000. However, Shabad had previously informed the provincial authorities that the venue could only accommodate a maximum of 700 people.
Saichol Noochet, a representative of the Phuket Land Protection Group, revealed that they have been contacted by 10 local networks, including tuk-tuk taxi groups, tourism business operators, Thai people who love Palestine, and communities in Rawai and Bang Tao, among others, to express their intention to join the demonstration tomorrow. In addition, online groups have begun organizing gatherings of Phuket residents in front of Chabad Patong tomorrow. Meanwhile, as of this morning, the Phuket Provincial Administration has made no further moves on this issue.
