Phraek sa subdistrict: A man consumed by jealousy shot and killed his wife’s lover before dying in a subsequent car crash. The incident unfolded in a low-cost housing complex, leaving two dead in a single night.
According to Thai News Agency, the fatal encounter was captured by CCTV inside Building 35 of the Baan Ua Arthorn 1 housing project in Samut Prakan Province. At around 8:30 PM, Mr. Narongchai, 31, was seen with Ms. B, heading to their apartment when Mr. Thitiwat, 45, emerged and shot Mr. Narongchai multiple times before fleeing the scene in his car.
Residents of the housing complex were thrown into panic as the sound of gunfire echoed through the building. They discovered Mr. Narongchai’s lifeless body on the stairs with Ms. B by his side. Emergency services were called, but it was too late; Mr. Narongchai was pronounced dead at the scene.
Bang Pu Police Station’s investigation found Mr. Narongchai had suffered nine gunshot wounds, with ten spent 9mm casings nearby. Mr. Thitiwat, identified as the shooter, was Ms. B’s estranged husband. After the shooting, he drove off along Thep Ratana Road.
Ms. B recounted her troubled marriage with Mr. Thitiwat, which had recently deteriorated despite over 20 years together and a shared daughter. She admitted to a three-year relationship with Mr. Narongchai, who was willing to leave his girlfriend if she divorced her husband.
Mr. Thitiwat’s final message to Ms. B, “How will our story end?” foreshadowed the night’s events. After the shooting, Mr. Thitiwat threatened Ms. B before fleeing. However, an hour later, police reported a fatal car accident involving Mr. Thitiwat on the Thep Ratana Expressway, where he crashed into a truck without braking.
Truck driver Mr. Amnat reported resting roadside without hazard warnings when Mr. Thitiwat’s car collided with his truck. The police found a 9mm handgun in Mr. Thitiwat’s car.
Pol. Col. Wachara Thepsen stated initial findings suggest jealousy as the motive. Authorities aim to gather further evidence through witness interviews and CCTV reviews to clarify the case’s details and pursue legal actions.
