Bangkok: Italian-Thai Development Public Company Limited (ITD) informed the Stock Exchange of Thailand that on January 7, 2026, the company signed a construction contract for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's Central Hospital and Medical Department Building project, valued at 3,997.8 million baht (including VAT). This is one of the BMA's large-scale construction projects aimed at upgrading the urban healthcare system.
According to Thai News Agency, the project includes the demolition of 10 existing buildings and the construction of a 21-story multi-purpose building with a 4-story basement, totaling approximately 126,500 square meters of usable space. It also includes landscaping, site planning, ancillary structures, and equipment. The construction period is set at 1,600 days from the contract commencement date.
However, ITD's projects are under scrutiny following two construction crane collapses within a month: the incident in Nakhon Ratchasima where a crane collapsed on a passenger train, and the collapse of a crane on Rama 2 Road in Samut Sakhon. As a result, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul ordered a temporary halt to ITD's projects to allow for an inspection and assessment of safety measures before resuming operations.
