Accra:The Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) and the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center (SBPC) are modifying their strategies to enhance response times and build public trust. This shift follows criticism directed at their approach to managing the situation in the southern border provinces.
According to Thai News Agency, General Chaiyapruk Duangprapat, Secretary-General of the National Security Council (NSC), responded to criticism from Pol. Col. Tawee Sodsong, a list MP and leader of the Prachachart Party. Tawee had suggested that the SBPC and ISOC should focus more on community work rather than security operations. General Chaiyapruk noted that ISOC Region 4 Forward Command is continuously adapting its methods, acknowledging that perpetrators act when opportunities arise. He emphasized the ongoing adjustments and the necessity for proactive operations.
The Prime Minister has instructed the SBPC to expedite the execution of existing plans, having convened with relevant officials for further instructions. Both ISOC and SBPC are believed to be working diligently, aiming for more timely responses. The Commander of the 4th Army Region and the Director of ISOC Region 4 Forward Command have highlighted the importance of preventing incidents and conducting proactive operations to improve control over the situation.
General Chaiyapruk emphasized that the NSC, ISOC, and SBPC maintain constant coordination, with regular updates and communication. He noted that transforming public distrust into trust will take time, with proactive plans being developed for implementation by 2026. Discussions on resolving the issues in the southern border provinces involve a multi-dimensional approach, including peace talks and building trust among the local population.
