According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Ittiporn Boonprakong, Chairman of the Election Commission (EC), highlighted the significance of this by-election to fill a parliamentary vacancy. He encouraged the electorate to actively engage in this democratic process, emphasizing the importance of selecting representatives who will serve in parliament.
Candidates are advised to strictly follow legal guidelines in their campaign activities. Mr. Boonprakong assured that by adhering to the law, candidates need not worry about other issues. The EC has stressed the importance of reporting campaign expenses accurately. Under Section 73 of the Organic Act on the Election of Members of the House of Representatives, actions such as vote buying, monetary inducements, entertainment events, banquets, and fraudulent campaigning are strictly prohibited. The submission of campaign expense accounts must comply with election laws, with the EC providing a handbook for further guidance.
Candidates can seek assistance from the EC to ensure compliance with political party laws and election regulations, thereby preventing any legal violations.
