Investigation Accelerated into Good Deeds Foundation’s 1 Billion Baht Donations

Bangkok:The investigation into the donation funds to the Good Deeds Foundation is being expedited, with clarity expected soon. Authorities have discovered that the donation amount reached 1 billion baht, prompting an examination into potential misuse of the funds.

According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Nattasak Chaowanasai, Commander of the Central Investigation Bureau, is spearheading the accelerated investigation. The probe follows a complaint by "Oysri" against the foundation, chaired by "Boom Panadda," on charges of public fraud, violations of the Computer Crime Act, and money laundering. The investigation team is delving into several issues and will convene to review information and evidence, aiming to resolve the case by next Monday.

The investigation is focused on whether the donated funds were misused and if the foundation's terms and conditions for managing its money were adhered to. This includes examining the authority of the foundation president in approving expenditures, ensuring compliance with board-approved budgets, and assessing any unauthorized financial transfers that may fall under money laundering offenses.

Initial findings reveal that the foundation's operations began in 2019, although it was officially registered in 2024. A comprehensive review of its financial records is deemed necessary, as donations reportedly range from hundreds of millions to nearly 1,000 million baht.
