Inventors’ Day 2026 Celebrates Innovation-Driven National Transformation

Bangkok: Inventors' Day 2026, inaugurated by Mr. Surasak Panjaroenvorakul, the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, underscored the pivotal theme of transforming Thailand through innovation. The event, organized by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) at BITEC Bangna Exhibition and Convention Center, highlighted a forward-looking approach to integrating practical research and advancing Thailand as a developer of AI technology.

According to Thai News Agency, the opening ceremony on January 5, 2026, was attended by key figures from the ministry, including Prof. Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Dr. Panphermsak Arunee, Dr. Wannee Nontsiri, Ms. Pennapa Kanchana, Prof. Dr. Sirirerk Songsiwilai, and Prof. Emeritus Dr. Suthiporn Jitmithrap. Dr. Wiparat Dee-ong, Director of NRCT, welcomed the distinguished guests, who gathered to witness this significant milestone in Thailand's journey toward innovation-driven growth.

The event emphasized the importance of transforming knowledge into tangible inventions and innovations, with Mr. Surasak highlighting the role of research institutions and universities in this endeavor. The Ministry's "ground-based, practical research" policy aims to address problems and improve citizens' quality of life. Initiatives like the "Drone Half-Price Plus Towards Smart Farming" project exemplify the Ministry's commitment to enhancing productivity and living standards for Thai farmers. Additionally, efforts to upskill and reskill the workforce through educational programs in digital technology, AI, and advanced technologies were highlighted as crucial to meeting labor market demands.

Mr. Surasak emphasized the importance of collaboration among executives, inventors, and researchers from Thailand and abroad. The 2026 National Inventors' Day serves as a platform for exchanging ideas and driving national progress through science, technology, and innovation. He remarked that the transformation from technology users to developers is essential for the nation's strength and competitiveness on the global stage.
