New delhi: IndiGo, India's largest airline, will cancel another 500 flights in India today, including all outbound flights from New Delhi, marking the fourth day of cancellations since Tuesday.
According to Thai News Agency, sources revealed that IndiGo plans to cancel 235 flights to New Delhi, 104 to Mumbai, 102 to Bengaluru, and 92 to Hyderabad. The Delhi Airport has also announced that all IndiGo departures have been cancelled today.
IndiGo, which holds a 60 percent market share in India, has been cancelling flights since December 2, 2025. The airline cites technical issues, weather conditions, and new regulations as the reasons for these disruptions, which have left numerous passengers stranded at airports. This situation has become the airline's biggest challenge since its inception 19 years ago.
IndiGo informed authorities yesterday that it aims to resume normal operations by February 10, 2026. The airline attributed the cancellations to a miscalculation in implementing the new Flight Duty Time Limit that increased pilot rest hours from 12 to 48 hours a week, effective November 1. This change has caused a shortage of pilots and cabin crew. Additionally, the new regulations limit pilots to two night landings a week, down from six. The Indian Pilots' Union, however, disputed this claim, arguing that other airlines continue to operate as normal.
