IMF-World Bank Meetings 2026 Expected to Boost Hotel Bookings in Thailand

Bangkok:The IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings 2026 are anticipated to significantly impact hotel bookings in Thailand, with an expected increase of 10,000 rooms. This event, scheduled for October 12-18, 2026, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, is set to attract 15,000 attendees.

According to Thai News Agency, the Thai Hotel Association has revealed that the average spending per capita for attendees over the seven-day meeting will range between 90,000 and 100,000 baht. Mr. Thienprasit Chaiyaphatranan, President of the Thai Hotel Association, highlighted Thailand's readiness to host the meetings and emphasized the potential to enhance the country's international image and economic confidence.

The event is expected to benefit local hotels through services such as meeting rooms, catering, and food and beverages. Restaurants in Bangkok and major tourist destinations like Phuket and Pattaya are also anticipated to see increased spending. Despite the short duration, the purchasing power of attendees is significant, with many engaging in business rather than tourism.

Evaluating the conference's success will involve considering economic outcomes and the potential for foreign direct investment, particularly in AI and data centers. The 21 hotels accommodating leaders for the event have already begun displaying welcome signs, and transportation from these hotels to the venue will take no more than 30 minutes.
