A footwear factory in Samut Sakhon province was completely gutted after a fire broke out on Sunday evening (Dec 17).
The fire at PPL Rubber and Footwear factory in Tambon Nadee of Samut Sakhon's Muang district happened around 6.30pm but was put under control three hours later. No one was injured.
Initial damage to the factory building, machineries, rubber sheet and footwear products was estimated at around 60 million baht.
Firefighters arrived in over 20 fire trucks but encountered difficulties in combatting the fire because of the narrow road leading to the factory, strong wind, and surrounding plastic and furniture factories.
The fire raged for three hours until the whole factory building in the 4-rai plot of land was completely burned to the ground.
Firemen said before the fire started, there was a electricity blackout.
When the electricity was restored, a fire was seen at the toilet area of the factory.
Forensic police are inspecting the fire scene to look into the actual cause.
