A huge fire broke out last night at a major vinyl flooring manufacturing factory in Samut Sakhon province causing damages estimated initially at over 100 million baht.
The night fire was reported at HV Plas Co Ltd at about 8.00pm, and by 11.00am Monday, firemen still had to use water to spray on the huge stock of vinyl floorings which were burned in the inferno.
The factory is located on a 30-rai compound, about 500 metres off Sethakit road at Tambon Nadi in Muang district of Samut Sakhon.
The factory is major manufacturer and exporter of PVC flooring, PVC printed sheets.
The fire was first spotted at the Godown 2 building which covers four rai of land. It was used to store the PVC floorings, PVC sheets awaiting for exports.
Over a dozen of fire trucks from Samut Sakhon and Nakhon Pathom were called in to fight the huge fire which raged in fierece density due to the huge stocks of flammable materials.
By 8 am the fire was contained in the factory but black smokes from burned PVC products were still billowing from the factory building which was burned to then ground.
Industry officer said the fire has caused environmental impact in the vicinities as black smokes still covered the area and visibility remained poor.
The fire at HV Plas was the second time in three years.
The first fire in May 2014 happened at its production factory with damage estimated at 300 million baht.
