Bangkok: The House Committee on Political Development recently paid a visit to the Election Commission (EC) to review and discuss the ongoing electoral work and procedures. This initiative aims to refine the election system and bolster political participation among citizens, including enabling monks and nuns to exercise their voting rights. According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Saeng Boonmee, the Secretary-General of the Election Commission, greeted the Committee from the House of Representatives, which focuses on Political Development, Mass Communications, and Public Participation. The meeting was attended by executives and staff members from the Election Commission Office, who engaged in a comprehensive exchange of opinions and insights. The purpose of this visit was to study and discuss the operations of the Election Commission and its office concerning the Political Development Commission's mission. The discussions were aligned with enhancing the legislative process and involved sharing experiences and ins ights from the 2024 Senate election. Key topics included extracting lessons, exploring guidelines for conducting elections via online platforms, and developing online election systems to improve public facilitation. Additionally, discussions covered increasing political participation among monks and religious clergy, amending laws on local elections, and addressing other related issues.
