Hong Kong Bestows Posthumous Honor on Firefighter Who Died in Line of Duty

Hong kong: The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region's fire department has honored He Weihai, a firefighter who lost his life battling a major fire, by bestowing upon him the honorary title of Senior Firefighter. This recognition comes in light of his exemplary conduct and ultimate sacrifice during a devastating blaze at the Hongfuyuan (Wang Fuk Court) residential complex in the Dapu district.

According to Thai News Agency, a posthumous honorary ceremony was conducted on Thursday at the Shatian Fire Station, where Mr. He was stationed. During the ceremony, his family members received a posthumous certificate and a badge commemorating his rank as a senior firefighter. This heartfelt tribute was a testament to Mr. He's commitment and bravery.

On November 26, Mr. He was engaged in a firefighting and rescue operation at the Hongfuyuan housing project when he sustained serious injuries that led to his death in the line of duty. Born in 1987, Mr. He joined the fire department as a firefighter in 2016. Over the nearly nine years of his service, he demonstrated outstanding performance and dedication, participating in numerous missions and exemplifying professionalism.

The fire department has announced plans to hold a dignified funeral ceremony for Mr. He on December 19th, followed by his burial.
