His Majesty the King Concerned Over the Plight of Flood Victims in the South

Prime Minister and Defense Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha stated that His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua was concerned over the plight of flood-affected people in the South.

Through the Rajaprajanugroh Foundation, His Majesty had provided 10,000 relief kits for the flood victims. He also ordered the setting up of royally-granted kitchens to offer food for them. Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati Kromluangrajasarinisiribajra Mahavajrarajadhita also provided assistance to the flood victims through the Friends in Need (of “PA”) Volunteers Foundation, Thai Red Cross.

Floods have affected seven southern provinces (58 districts), namely Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Trang, Songkhla, Pattani, and Narathiwat.

The Prime Minister on 7 December 2020 led some Cabinet members to visit flood victims in Nakhon Si Thammarat and hand out aid packages for them. He had instructed relevant agencies to urgently help the people in all affected areas and release floodwater as much as possible.

The Prime Minister said that he has been closely monitoring the flood situation and reiterated that the Government would not ignore the plight of the people.

A survey of flood damage will be conducted and rehabilitation will be carried out to ease the hardships of affected residents.
