Bangkok: The second cohort of the Higher Education Service Support (HSS) training program has been officially inaugurated by the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI). This program aims to strengthen the capabilities of university council members and administrators to ensure transparent and sustainable management within higher education institutions.
According to Thai News Agency, Dr. Panphomsak Arunee, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of MHESI, led the opening ceremony of the 'Quality Enhancement Training Course for University Council Members and Senior Executives in Higher Education Institutions (2nd Batch, Fiscal Year 2026)'. The event was attended by key figures such as Ms. Jarurin Phuraya, Head of the Key Mission Implementation Section, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marut Tangwattana Chuliporn from Burapha University, alongside other MHESI executives and university leaders. Held at the Avani Ratchada Hotel in Bangkok, the program underscores the ministry's commitment to improving governance in higher education.
Dr. Phanphermsak emphasized that the Health Service Support Program (HSSP) course is vital for fostering the knowledge and skills necessary for university council members and administrators. It equips them to apply good governance principles effectively and responsibly, in line with the Higher Education Act B.E. 2562 (2019). This initiative plays a crucial role in policy formulation, guiding institutional directions, and promoting ethical standards. The Office of the Permanent Secretary has also drafted guidelines aimed at enhancing governance in higher education management, which the HSSP course supports by offering a platform for knowledge exchange and application of best practices in institutional management.
Ms. Jarurin outlined that the second cohort of the Higher Education Service Support (HESSC) training program for the fiscal year 2026 will span eight days, divided into four periods between August and September 2026. The program will host 45 participants, including university council leaders and senior executives from 31 public universities, 13 private universities, and one executive from an agency within MHESI. Participants will benefit from insights provided by experts from both the public and private sectors, fostering improvements in institutional efficiency and adaptability.
On August 13, 2026, the program featured lectures and discussions on crucial topics such as MHESI's strategies, higher education strategies, and global university rankings. These sessions, complemented by networking activities, aimed to enhance strategic perspectives and essential knowledge for effective governance and sustainable development in Thai higher education institutions.
