Heavy Rainfall Expected in Southern Thailand Amid Decreased Rainfall in Other Regions


Bangkok: Rainfall has decreased across Thailand, with the exception of the southern region, where heavy rain continues to persist in certain areas.

According to Thai News Agency, the Meteorological Department reported that while the majority of Thailand will experience less rain than the previous day, the southern region will see an increase in rainfall, including heavy rain in some locales. This weather pattern is influenced by easterly and southeasterly winds affecting Thailand, the Gulf of Thailand, and the Andaman Sea.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to be cautious of thunderstorms, heavy rain, and accumulated rain. Travel through flooded areas should be approached with care, and it is recommended to carry umbrellas and raincoats when venturing outdoors during this period. The Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand will experience waves of approximately 1 meter, with waves exceeding 2 meters in areas with thunderstorms, prompting mariners to proceed with caution and avoid stormy areas.

Bangkok and surrounding areas are expected to see thunderstorms in 60% of the area, with some heavy rain. The northern region will experience thunderstorms in 40% of the area, mainly in provinces such as Mae Hong Son and Chiang Mai. Meanwhile, the northeastern region will see thunderstorms in 30% of the area. The central region anticipates thunderstorms in 60% of the area, with heavy rain in specific provinces like Ratchaburi. The eastern region will also experience similar weather patterns.

The southern region (East Coast) will have thunderstorms in 70% of the area, with heavy rain in provinces including Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan. The southern region (West Coast) is expected to have thunderstorms in 60% of the area, affecting provinces such as Phang Nga and Krabi. Mariners and residents are urged to remain vigilant in light of these weather conditions.
