Government Yet to Decide on Cambodian Workers’ Permit Extension

Bangkok: The government spokesperson confirmed that there has been no decision yet on extending work permits for Cambodian workers.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that information shared online regarding the extension of work permits for over 200,000 Cambodian workers who are still outside the formal system is merely a proposal from the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI). This proposal reflects the need to align labor with the actual needs of the manufacturing sector.

The Prime Minister has instructed the Ministry of Labour to consider this proposal thoroughly and carefully. The spokesperson emphasized that no authorization or resolution has been passed on this matter as has been disseminated.
