Bangkok: The government has introduced low-interest loans through the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Bank of Thailand (SME D Bank), amounting to 20 billion baht at a fixed 3% interest rate for the initial three years. This initiative is expected to inject 80 billion baht into the economic system, commencing today and continuing until the end of 2025.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Sasikarn Wattanachan, the deputy government spokeswoman, announced that the government is implementing economic stimulus measures to aid SME entrepreneurs in accessing low-interest capital. This move aligns with the Cabinet's resolution to approve a low-interest loan project with a total budget of 20 billion baht, aimed at helping SME entrepreneurs gain access to capital, boost liquidity, stimulate investment, expand consumption, and enhance cash flow within the system.
Ms. Sasikarn further elaborated that SME D Bank will lead the effort to support SME entrepreneurs in accessing funding sources. The credit line is divided into two loan projects, with applications open from today until December 30, 2025. This loan aims to enhance liquidity and invest in business improvements, with a maximum credit line of 15 million baht, a repayment period of up to 10 years, and a fixed interest rate of 3% per year for the first th ree years.
Entrepreneurs who utilize these loans will be eligible to participate in comprehensive business development programs from SME D Bank and its partners.
