Bangkok: The government is making strides to bolster safety in educational institutions with the development of "Traffy EDU," a new system aimed at improving the reporting of incidents within schools. This initiative ensures that reports are promptly forwarded to relevant parties and is set to be integrated with the central EduPass platform by January next year.
According to Thai News Agency, Lieutenant Colonel Patthadarasmi Thongsalooykorn, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, announced that the government is intensifying efforts to enhance child protection and safety in schools by promoting the "Traffy EDU" system. This digital platform will enable students, parents, teachers, and educational staff to report incidents and problems, facilitating swift referrals to responsible agencies and providing targeted support.
The launch of Traffy EDU is part of a broader strategy linked to the establishment of the Center for the Protection of Rights and Freedoms within the Ministry of Education. This center aims to foster a secure environment in educational settings, allowing for more open and accessible complaint reporting. Initially, the Ministry of Education will implement the system, with plans for long-term integration into the Super App 'EduPass.'
The Deputy Spokesperson highlighted the significance of Traffy EDU as a crucial channel for addressing issues related to rights, safety, and quality of life in educational institutions. It aims to tackle challenges such as bullying, violence, sexual harassment, drug use, and mental health issues. The system will bridge the gap between affected individuals and government agencies, enabling systematic problem-solving.
To ensure effective implementation, the Ministry of Education has conducted online training for officials nationwide, equipping them to handle requests, prioritize urgency, coordinate with relevant agencies, and follow up on outcomes consistently. The government underscores the importance of protecting personal data, confidentiality, and cybersecurity.
In future phases, reporting channels at the Center for the Protection of Rights and Liberties will be integrated and enhanced. Traffy EDU will connect to the Super App 'EduPass,' streamlining access to various services via a single Digital ID. This integration is anticipated to be operational by January 2027.
Moreover, future developments will focus on secure data linkages between agencies to provide continuous support for children. This includes coordinating mental health and medical care with the Ministry of Public Health, connecting social welfare services for vulnerable families, and issuing alerts in violent situations through cell broadcast systems.
