Wang saphung: The robber who used a carbine rifle to break into a gold shop in Wang Saphung District has surrendered to police. A mother accompanied a thief carrying a gas cylinder and a carbine rifle who broke into a gold shop in Wang Saphung District, Loei Province, to surrender to police. The stolen gold was recovered. A reenactment of the crime is scheduled for today.
According to Thai News Agency, CCTV footage captured two thieves wearing balaclavas, riding a motorcycle and carrying gas canisters and carbine rifles. They used the gas torch to cut through the rolling door of the gold shop before stealing the gold and escaping.
Investigators from Wang Saphung Police Station learned that the perpetrator was Mr. Nattawut, or Ball, 25 years old, who was hiding in a thicket near his home in Moo 11, Ban Non Kok Hat, Phan Noi Subdistrict, Wang Saphung District, Loei Province. Police then apprehended him and, through further investigation, confessed that Mr. Ekaphon, or Tong, 41 years old, was the mastermind. On the day of the crime, they possessed a shotgun and a carbine rifle. They stole a number of items including amulets, earrings, a silver necklace, and other valuables, totaling 100,000-200,000 baht. Mr. Tong claimed to have taken all the stolen goods. He is currently hiding in a thicket on Koh Klang Nam, Ban Metta, Phan Noi Subdistrict, Wang Saphung District, Loei Province. Police contacted Mr. Ball's mother to try and persuade him to surrender, but after 7 hours, their efforts were unsuccessful.
Recently, Mr. Tong's mother brought her son to surrender to the police along with all the evidence, which included a gold ring, amulet frame, and necklace, valued at 100,000-200,000 baht.
Mr. Tong claimed that the reason he broke into the gold shop was to get money to help his struggling parents. After the crime, he went into hiding until his mother persuaded him to turn himself in. He claimed he didn't have a gun, but the police are not yet convinced. After questioning, they took him to reenact the crime as part of his confession.
