Bangkok: PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited (GC) received two prestigious awards at the SET Awards 2025, with OR winning the Highly Commended Sustainability Awards. GC announced that it has received the SET Awards 2025, the "Outstanding Innovative Company Awards" for its Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) project, and the "Highly Commended Sustainability Awards" for outstanding sustainability performance among Thai listed companies, organized by the Stock Exchange of Thailand and the Banking and Finance Journal.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Narongsak Jivakanan, Chief Executive Officer of GC, stated that GC is committed to seriously reducing greenhouse gas emissions from upstream to downstream, throughout the value chain. This initiative is being implemented in collaboration with partners, customers, and suppliers to achieve tangible results. Furthermore, GC has launched GC YOU Turn, a comprehensive used plastic management platform that collaborates with the government, leading organizations, and the private sector to promote the collection of used plastics at drop points. These are sorted at the source and transported to ENVICCO, GC's world-class plastic recycling facility. This initiative ensures that every piece of plastic waste is properly managed, recycled into plastic pellets, creating benefits instead of landfilling, and reused to the greatest extent possible, in line with the circular economy principles. This initiative has helped reduce plastic waste by over 60,000 tons per year, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by over 75,000 tons and emitting carbon dioxide equivalents per year, equivalent to planting more than 8.3 million large trees.
GC is also the first company in Thailand to successfully produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), which has already been used on Bangkok Airways' green flights. This success did not involve building a new plant but rather by leveraging GC's knowledge, expertise, and technology to retrofit the existing refinery to support a co-processing process using used vegetable oil as a raw material. This transformation leads to a biorefinery capable of producing both SAF and other environmentally friendly bioproducts.

OR has received the SET Awards in the Sustainability Excellence category from the Stock Exchange of Thailand for the fourth consecutive year. This recognition demonstrates its commitment to sustainable business operations through a strategy focused on strengthening existing businesses and exploring opportunities for expansion into new ones. This strategy leverages existing expertise and infrastructure while also embracing digital technology to meet consumer needs and transform into a "Digital Driven Organization." OR also continuously assesses risks and opportunities from climate change impacting its operations to develop appropriate management plans. This strategy utilizes the 3R Climate Strategy, which consists of "Reduce" (self-reducing greenhouse gas emissions), "Remove" (natural carbon sequestration), and "Reinforce" (expanding green business and investment), all to achieve the goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
In addition, the company has fostered business growth in partnership with communities. A notable project is the Caf© Amazon Sustainable Coffee Project, which focuses on promoting environmentally friendly coffee cultivation practices by farmers, such as growing coffee under shade trees to reduce forest fires and PM 2.5 dust. This project also provides farmers with a stable income through fair purchasing prices, enhancing their income and quality of life. Furthermore, the company employs underprivileged individuals in the barista sector, including the elderly, the hearing-impaired, and other vulnerable groups, through the "Caf© Amazon for Chance" project. This project promotes business sustainability from upstream to downstream, truly reinforcing OR's goal of supporting communities and enabling them to grow alongside OR's business.
