Bangkok:The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has unveiled a comprehensive flood relief compensation system, which includes immediate financial aid and insurance measures for affected individuals. Victims in areas surrounded by water are eligible for 5,000 baht as part of the emergency relief efforts.
According to Thai News Agency, the government has allocated funds from its emergency resources, allowing provincial governors to distribute 88,600 baht for severely damaged houses and 35,700 baht for each fatality. An expanded assistance program, approved by the Cabinet, will provide 9,000 baht for damaged houses, 5,000 baht for houses surrounded by water, and 2 million baht for each death.
The DDPM has also emphasized the importance of disaster insurance, urging citizens to link their PromptPay accounts with national ID numbers for efficient fund transfers. The public can claim compensation through four designated channels, ensuring that funds are transferred within 15 days once documentation is complete. Additionally, the DDPM has warned against fraudulent SMS messages promising quick assistance through money transfers, advising the public to remain vigilant.
