Bangkok:Flood compensation payments in Bangkok are experiencing delays compared to other provinces due to differences in procedures and verification systems.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Paradorn Prisnanantakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, explained that verification in other provinces is expedited by the involvement of village heads, community leaders, and local officials. In contrast, Bangkok relies on district directors and community committees, which slows the process.
The government has already compensated approximately 600,000 households out of a total of 2.3 million affected nationwide. To ensure everyone receives compensation, the remaining payments will be made from the central budget in fiscal year 2027. Incidents before October 1st fall under government compensation, while those occurring after this date are the responsibility of insurance companies, as household insurance has been provided.
Efforts are being made to speed up the compensation process in Bangkok, potentially involving Members of Parliament and Bangkok City Council members to assist in verification. The government assures that sufficient funds are available for compensating all affected individuals.
