Huai Kha Khaeng:Heavy rains have triggered a severe flash flood in the Huai Kha Khaeng forest, leading to the erosion and destruction of a bridge abutment on the main road between Ban Rai and Pang Sila Thong. The damage has created a gap 4 meters wide and over 5 meters deep, rendering the road impassable for all vehicles.
According to Thai News Agency, officials, including the Ban Rai District Chief and the Department of Rural Roads, have inspected the damage. As a temporary solution, villagers are now forced to use Highway 333, which is a detour of over 10 kilometers. District Chief Mr. Natthaphasut Chotijirasirikul has mobilized personnel and heavy machinery to urgently repair the bridge abutment, expecting the repairs to be completed soon, provided no further heavy rain occurs.
Meanwhile, the flooding situation in Sala Daeng Subdistrict, Bang Nam Priao District, Chachoengsao Province, continues to disrupt residents' lives. They are living with stagnant, black, foul-smelling water, and face additional challenges such as poisonous animals infiltrating their homes. Mrs. Boonying Boonpong, a resident, expressed her distress over having to pump water daily without improvement. She also mentioned that the 9,000 baht compensation she registered for is insufficient to cover the damage to her home. Villagers are urging relevant agencies to assist with alleviating the stagnant water problem and expedite compensation payments to help ease their financial burdens.
