Manila: A tragic maritime incident has unfolded in Philippine waters as the MV June Aster cruise ship caught fire while en route from Manila to Palawan Island, leading to the death of five individuals and leaving 86 missing.
According to Thai News Agency, the cruise ship was carrying 117 passengers and 17 crew members when it was engulfed by flames last night. Rescue operations have so far managed to save 43 individuals from the burning vessel. However, the whereabouts of the remaining passengers remain uncertain as officials grapple with the daunting task of tracking and verifying the exact number of people aboard.
