Fine Arts rehearses traditional dances before performing at royal cremation

The Fine Arts Department has organized a rehearsal of traditional Thai dance routines which will be performed in tribute to His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej in his cremation ceremony.

The state-run National News Bureau of Thailand ( NNT) said the Office of Performing Arts under the Fine Arts Department held a session for its staff to practice their dance routines at the National Theater.

The performances were also tape-recorded in order to be shared with Colleges of Dramatic Arts across the country as guidelines for their own rehearsals.

Mr Prasat Thongaram, a Thai dance expert at the Office of Performing Arts, said these dance performances will be conducted during the royal cremation ceremony as a prelude to theatrical plays in commemoration of the late King. They will involve several thousands of dancers from Colleges of Dramatic Arts nationwide.

The Fine Arts Department has been working on the historic performances for 6-7 months, making sure that they will be the grandest and most beautiful and befit the beloved King's honor.
