Surin: The family of Mr. Natthanon, a Provincial Electricity Authority employee from Surin province, held a poignant birthday celebration in front of his coffin, honoring the life of the good Samaritan who tragically died after being hit by a car while attempting to help a woman in distress.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident initially appeared to be a tragic accident, involving a car-motorcycle collision that resulted in two fatalities and one injury. However, police investigations, supported by dashcam footage, revealed a deliberate act of homicide. The footage showed Mr. Natthanon, who was driving the motorcycle, attempting to assist Ms. Thidarat, a woman arguing with her boyfriend, Mr. Anont. The argument escalated when Ms. Thidarat was forced to drive the car under threat, and upon stopping the vehicle, she sought refuge on Mr. Natthanon's motorcycle. The collision that followed was not accidental, as initially thought.
Mr. Anont, after being confronted with the evidence, expressed regret but maintained he did not intend to hit the motorcycle, unaware that Mr. Natthanon was a good Samaritan helping his girlfriend. Despite his claims, Mr. Anont has been charged with intentional homicide and property damage, and he has confessed to all charges.
On what would have been Mr. Natthanon's 29th birthday, his family and friends gathered to commemorate his life with a birthday cake and heartfelt songs, amidst tears and sorrow. Mr. Kanch, the grieving father, expressed his family's deep pain and their desire for justice. He emphasized the irreplaceable loss of his son, who had been a pillar of strength and hope for the family.
Mr. Kanch also shared a poignant message for the perpetrator, acknowledging the immense loss and the void left by his son's untimely death. He expressed a wish that his son could be reborn to them, highlighting the profound grief and longing experienced by the family.
Mr. Natthanon's girlfriend, who had traveled from Korat to join his birthday celebration, recounted the shock and devastation upon learning of his death. She shared their plans for a future together, including a wedding set for January next year, dreams that were abruptly shattered.
The police continue to pursue the case with the evidence at hand, ensuring that justice is served for the family of the deceased, and bringing closure to a tragic loss that has deeply affected those left behind.
