Ubon ratchathani: A fuel tank exploded opposite Samrong Hospital in Ubon Ratchathani province, injuring three people. According to Thai News Agency, the explosion occurred at an old gas station in Samrong Subdistrict, Samrong District at 2:05 PM. The incident happened while workers were using a gas cutter to dismantle old oil tanks.
The three individuals who sustained minor injuries have been identified as Mr. Nirat Phuechsri, Mr. Khunphan Kawichai, and Mr. Dawrung Thumawan. Initial reports suggest that the gas station had been out of operation for some time. The operator had hired workers to dismantle three old fuel tanks, and they began their work in the morning.
It is believed that during the dismantling process, a gas cutting torch was used to open the old tanks. This action likely caused a spark, igniting vapors inside the tanks and resulting in an explosion. Fortunately, the explosion did not lead to any property damage beyond the fuel tanks and surrounding walls, and there were no reports of serious injuries or fatalities.
The hospital doctors have examined all three injured individuals, and they have been allowed to return home.
