Explosion and Armed Assault at Global House Store in Pattani

Pattani: The South is in turmoil again as a single explosion was heard following an attack by gunmen at the Global House store in Pattani.

According to Thai News Agency, at 6:40 PM, an alarming incident took place in Pattani province when an unknown number of armed assailants stormed the Global House department store. Eyewitnesses report that the attackers were wielding automatic rifles, and there was an explosion following their entry into the premises.

The group, composed of approximately 3-4 individuals, entered the mall brandishing military-grade firearms, causing immediate panic. They threatened employees and shoppers, compelling them to evacuate the area rapidly, which resulted in chaos and fear among the occupants.

Current reports indicate that all store employees and customers have been successfully evacuated and are safe in a secure area outside the building. Fortunately, there have been no initial reports of injuries or fatalities associated with the attack.

In response, local security forces have swiftly cordoned off the vicinity of the incident to ensure public safety. They are in the process of deploying operational teams and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) units to manage the situation, assess any damage, and secure the site.

Preliminary assessments by officials suggest that the incident may have been orchestrated by violent extremist groups aiming to incite unrest in the region.

The Public Relations Center of the Internal Security Operations Command Region 4 Forward Headquarters has issued a warning to the public to steer clear of the Global House area at Bana Intersection, Mueang District, Pattani Province. Residents are advised to refrain from traveling near the vicinity unless absolutely necessary and to adhere strictly to the instructions provided by officials for their safety. The public is also urged to rely on information from official government agencies and credible sources while avoiding the incident site.
