Electric Car Fire Destroys Home in Khon Kaen

Khon kaen: An electric vehicle charging incident led to a devastating fire that consumed a house in Muang Kao Subdistrict, Muang Khon Kaen District. The occupants, four in total, managed to escape without injuries.

According to Thai News Agency, the fire began in a white electric car parked in front of the house and quickly spread, nearly destroying the entire structure. Firefighters from Khon Kaen Municipality and Muang Kao Municipality battled the blaze for over an hour before managing to extinguish it.

The homeowner, Mr. Setthaphat, 46, had parked the car and connected it to a charging station before the fire started around 5:00 AM. The household awoke to the sound of a fire outside, prompting an immediate call to emergency services.

In the aftermath, police from the Forensic Science Center 4 are tasked with gathering evidence and interviewing the victims to ascertain the fire’s cause. Initial speculation from a popular Facebook page suggests that the issue might lie with the home’s electrical system rather than the car itself.

The Facebook page “Aeromechx,” known for its focus on automotive topics, commented on the incident, highlighting the need for further investigation to identify the fire’s origin, whether it stemmed from the car’s battery, charging equipment, or the house’s wiring.

This incident has underscored the importance for electric vehicle users to ensure regular inspection and maintenance of their vehicles and charging systems, although the majority opinion among netizens and automotive experts leans toward a fault in the home’s electrical system.
