Election Commission orders investigation into Pheu Thai’s dissolution over Thaksin’s leadership, along with 6 original coalition parties

EC orders investigation into Pheu Thai's dissolution, Thaksin leads, dominates, and joins 6 original parties after the registrar sees evidence, so he orders a 30-day investigation committee. Reporters reported that recently, Mr. Saeng Boonmee, Secretary-General of the Election Commission and Registrar of Political Parties, considered 6 petitions that people requested for the Election Commission to consider ordering the dissolution of the Pheu Thai Party and 6 parties in the original government coalition due to Mr. Thaksin Shinawatra, who is not a party member, acting to influence and lead, and the 6 political parties consenting to Mr. Thaksin's influence and lead. He believed that the petitions had merit and ordered the establishment of an investigation committee to conduct the investigation and provide opinions, with the process to be completed within 30 days, but an extension of no more than 30 days can be requested at a time until it is completed. In this case, there were petitioners who were identified as anonymous individuals, Dr. Warong Dechgitvigrom, the chairman of the Thai Phakdee Party, Mr. Ruangkrai Leekijwattana, a member of the Palang Pracharath Party, and Mr. Noppharuj Worachitwuttikul, a former leader of the 2006 Pigeon Group, who filed the petition, citing Mr. Thaksin's behavior, including the fact that the leaders of the 6 former coalition parties went to meet with Mr. Thaksin at his house in Chan Sung La to consider nominating a suitable person to be the prime minister after the Constitutional Court ruled that Mr. Settha Thavisin's ministerial position had ended. Thaksin's multiple interviews regarding the allocation of ministerial positions during the formation of the government, his guidance of the Pheu Thai Party in selecting coalition parties, and his incorporation of the vision that Thaksin had expressed on August 22 as part of the government's policies, were considered by the petitioner to be in violation of Section 29 of the Political Party Act, which prohibits non-party members from t aking any action that directly or indirectly controls, dominates, or directs the activities of a political party. The fact that the Pheu Thai Party and the six former coalition parties allowed non-party members to take actions that directly or indirectly control, dominate, or direct the activities of a political party also violates Section 28. If the investigation finds that this is an offense, the party registrar will be able to propose to the EC to submit to the Constitutional Court to order the dissolution of the party under Section 92 (3) of the same law.
