Bangkok: The Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning (ONREP) is preparing to hold the 'EIA Symposium and Monitoring Awards 2026' to provide a platform for knowledge exchange, elevate the standards of environmental impact assessment, and present awards to exemplary businesses that have excelled in complying with environmental measures.
According to Thai News Agency, the 'EIA Symposium and Monitoring Awards 2026' will be held under the theme 'SHAPING SUSTAINABLE TOMORROW: Balanced Development.Towards a Sustainable Future.' This event will serve as a crucial platform for gathering knowledge, innovations, and experiences in environmental impact assessment, gathering feedback from all stakeholders, and emphasizing that adhering to EIA measures is not merely about complying with legal requirements, but about demonstrating social and environmental responsibility. This ensures that economic development and environmental protection grow together in a stable, balanced, and sustainable manner.
The event includes key activities such as: a symposium featuring keynote lectures and panel discussions on Thailand's Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) system; the EIA Monitoring Awards 2026 ceremony, recognizing and motivating projects, businesses, or establishments with excellent and exemplary environmental management practices; and exhibitions and promotional booths showcasing award-winning companies and disseminating information on EIA system implementation.
In 2026, a total of 87 projects met the selection criteria and received the EIA Monitoring Awards 2026. These projects covered various categories including government agencies, mining projects, petroleum development projects, and energy projects. They were categorized as follows: 16 projects at the excellent level, 59 projects at the outstanding level, and 12 projects at the commendable level.
The 'EIA Symposium and Monitoring Awards 2026' will be held on September 10, 2026, at the Rama Gardens Hotel, Bangkok. The event is expected to attract over 350 participants from the government sector, private sector, expert committees, EIA report preparers, and interested members of the public.
