Bangkok: DSI (Department of Special Investigation) has formed a committee to investigate serious disciplinary violations by two officials involved in cheating on local government exams. The move comes amid mounting concerns over corruption within the ranks of the local government examination process.
According to Thai News Agency, Police Lieutenant General Ruttapol Nawarat, Minister of Justice, announced the establishment of the committee following allegations made by Mr. Asaphol Santraiphop, Chairman of the House of Representatives' Committee on Prevention and Suppression of Corruption and Misconduct. Mr. Santraiphop claimed that officials from the DSI were implicated in a corruption scandal linked to the examination of "Mayor Heng" of Sisaket Province.
Lieutenant General Nawarat confirmed that initial reports suggest the involvement of two DSI officers in the scandal. He further stated that the Royal Thai Police has already taken action by initiating legal proceedings against the implicated officials. The investigation aims to address the integrity of the examination process and hold accountable those who have breached ethical standards.
