DSC rushes to solve the problem of oil leak from Thaioil pipeline in the province. Chonburi

The Pollution Control Department is rushing to coordinate with the Marine Department to establish a water pollution prevention and elimination center due to an oil spill from a crude oil pipeline of Thai Oil Public Company Limited in Chonburi Province. Oil plumes are expected to move ashore around Koh Tai Bat, Ao Udom, and possibly Wonnapha Beach during 8-10 Sept.

The Pollution Control Department (PCD) reported that ARUB Light Crude crude oil leaked at the oil receiving buoy of Thai Oil Public Company Limited, which is located in the southern part of Koh Sichang. Chonburi Province on September 3, 2023 at 9:00 p.m. It is estimated that there was an oil spill of approximately 50 – 70 cubic meters and the company requested permission to use 6,000 liters of oil spill removal chemicals (Dispersant) type Super Dispersant 25.

Most recently, the Pollution Control Department predicted the movement of the oil slick using a mathematical model (OILMAP), which expected the oil to come ashore around September 8 – 10, 2023 in the area of Tai Bat Island, Ao Udom, and possibly Wonnapha Beach. Chonburi Province Currently, we are coordinating with the Marine Department in preparing to establish a center to prevent and eliminate water pollution due to oil. At the same time, officials were sent to survey and collect water and oil samples to analyze and assess environmental impacts.

In this regard, the Pollution Control Department will coordinate with various agencies. Under the National Oil Water Pollution Prevention and Elimination Plan to continue periodically monitoring and inspecting the situation.
