Drunk Security Guard Stabbed to Death by Citizen with Scissors

Bangkok: A drunk security guard was fatally stabbed by a passerby after an altercation involving an Isaan sausage vendor escalated on Sathorn Tai Road. The incident unfolded near the entrance of Soi Sathorn 9 in the Yan Nawa Subdistrict of Sathon District.

According to Thai News Agency, around 8:00 p.m., the security guard, identified as Mr. Yod, 29, who was employed at a hotel, became embroiled in a dispute with a vendor over free sausages. The altercation turned violent when Mr. Yod, holding a sausage, engaged in a physical confrontation with the vendor. A passerby, Mr. Sorapong, 40, intervened in an attempt to de-escalate the situation but ended up stabbing Mr. Yod with a pair of scissors.

Police officers and rescue teams from Yan Nawa Police Station arrived promptly at the scene to find Mr. Yod with a stab wound under his left breast. Despite rescue efforts, including CPR, Mr. Yod succumbed to his injuries after being transported to a hospital. The scene was marked by scattered Isaan sausages, indicative of the chaotic events that transpired.

Mr. Sorapong explained that he witnessed the security guard's aggressive behavior towards the vendor and intervened to protect the vendor and himself. The situation escalated, leading to Mr. Yod being stabbed during the confrontation. The incident has drawn attention to the actions of both the security guard and the intervening citizen, raising questions about appropriate responses to violent situations.
