Bangkok: Dr. Soran Boonbaichaiyapruk, Chairman of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), has taken legal action against the NBTC Selection Committee by filing a lawsuit with the Central Administrative Court.
According to Thai News Agency, Dr. Soran's legal move aims to overturn the committee's decision No. 1/2569, issued on July 21, 2026, which ruled him ineligible for his position. The decision cited evidence that Dr. Soran received compensation for his medical services from January to April 2022 and held a temporary position as an hourly physician at Mahidol University. Based on this evidence, the committee unanimously concluded that Dr. Soran lacked the necessary qualifications to continue as Chairman of the NBTC.
In his lawsuit, Dr. Soran argues that the resolution of the NBTC Selection Committee exceeded its legal authority. He emphasized that his tenure as a member of the NBTC has not officially ended, as a royal decree for his removal has not been issued. Dr. Soran claims that the committee's decision unlawfully impedes his ability to fulfill his duties and has caused significant harm to the administration of the organization.
