Bangkok: DPU Experience Day: Offering Dek70 students an "Experience Before You Choose: Find the Right Faculty" to help them develop skills for the future. Dhurakij Pundit University (DPU) organized the DPU Experience Day under the concept of "Try Before You Choose, Know Before Anyone Else: The Right Faculty at DPU," providing a space for high school, vocational school, and technical college students to discover their interests and develop their potential through trial classes and hands-on activities from various faculties and majors, before making decisions about their educational path and future careers.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Teerapong Sikharetsakul, Marketing Director of DPU, stated that the key concept of this event is to help students 'understand themselves before choosing a major,' because the most expensive cost of education is time. Choosing a field of study that doesn't align with their interests may lead to missed opportunities to develop their potential. Therefore, experiencing real-world situations, talking to professors, senior students, and professionals in those fields will help students make more confident decisions. At the DPU Experience Day, students will design their own journey of self-discovery through three important steps:
1. Conversation of a Lifetime: A conversation to discover their interests and potential.
2. Answer of a Lifetime: Understanding academic and career paths that fulfill your life's goals.
3. Journey of a Lifetime: Planning for the future and building towards your goals.
Students can choose to explore five academic pathways: Innovation (technology and innovation), Social (social development), Global (language, business, and global connections), Creative (creativity and tangible achievements), and Wellness (health and quality of life). Each pathway is linked to faculties, majors, and examples of future careers, giving students a clearer picture from "knowing themselves" to "choosing their future path."
The event featured Dr. Athitkorn Niyomdechatheerachat, or Dr. Bat, a positive psychologist and the first Professional Action Learning Coach in Thailand, specializing in leadership development. He helped students explore their interests and preferences before engaging in activities specific to each faculty. Students then gained real-world experience through hands-on work, workshops, and discussions with professors, senior students, and alumni working in various professions, providing them with a comprehensive overview of their academic and career paths.
The Marketing Director of DPU further stated that DPU prioritizes preparing students for the future job market by integrating AI into the curriculum across all courses. This is complemented by promoting collaborative projects between faculties, internships with companies, and the development of key skills such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and empathy through the Potential Intelligence Center. This helps students understand themselves and prepare for the workforce. Furthermore, DPU collaborates with over 3,000 companies and organizations. University data shows that approximately 95% of graduates find employment immediately after graduation, reflecting DPU's approach to student development that connects learning with the real world of work.
The DPU Experience Day, now in its third year, has garnered significant interest, with over 1,000 students and guidance counselors from various schools participating. This year, DPU is expanding the DPU Experience Day to a provincial location for the first time, planning to hold an event in Ubon Ratchathani Province in late 2026. This aims to provide students in provincial areas with access to hands-on learning experiences before expanding to other regions. Ms. Thanawan Priyanon, a student from the College of Dramatic Arts and a participant in the DPU Experience Day, said that she was interested in studying at DPU because of its aviation programs, which align with her dream of becoming a flight attendant. Her father is an aeronautical engineer, so she researched the university and chose to participate in the DPU Experience Day to experience the atmosphere and real-life situations. The event taught her about evacuation and etiquette on an airplane, giving her a clearer picture of the studies and career path. She was also impressed by the warm and friendly atmosphere of the university, and the support from professors and senior students who provided comprehensive information about the curriculum, environment, and facilities. This convinced her that DPU is the right place for her studies and self-development to achieve her future goals, and she has decided to apply to study at DPU.
