Dortmund Defeats Leverkusen 4-2 in Bundesliga Clash

Leverkusen: Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen ended their final home game on a bad note after losing 2-4 to Borussia Dortmund in the German Bundesliga.

According to Thai News Agency, "The Pharmacy" Bayer Leverkusen opened the Bay Arena to welcome the visit of "The Yellow Tigers" Borussia Dortmund. This game marked the last home match for Xabi Alonso, following his announcement to depart from Leverkusen at the end of the season.

In the first half, Leverkusen's Jeremy Frimpong scored in the 31st minute, giving the hosts an early advantage. However, Dortmund quickly responded, equalizing two minutes later through Julian Brandt after an assist from Karim Adeyemi. Dortmund then took the lead in the 43rd minute when Julian Ryerson scored, making it 2-1 at halftime.

The second half saw Dortmund extend their lead, with Karim Adeyemi scoring in the 73rd minute and Serhou Girassi adding another goal in the 77th minute. Leverkusen managed a late consolation goal in injury time through Jonas Hoffmann, but the match ended with a 4-2 victory for Dortmund. This win secured Dortmund 54 points from 33 matches, placing them 5th in the league, just one point behind Freiburg, as they aim for a top-four finish to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

After the game, Xabi Alonso bid an emotional farewell to Leverkusen fans, reflecting on his tenure with gratitude and fondness despite the loss. He described his time at the club as memorable and expressed his continued affection for Leverkusen, considering it one of his 'homes.'
