Chicago: Donald Trump will serve as honorary president of the 2026 Presidents Cup, a traditional golf tournament, and plans to attend the competition, which will be held at the Medinah Country Club in Chicago from September 24-27.
According to Thai News Agency, Trump previously served as honorary president at the 2017 Presidents Cup at Liberty National Golf Club in New Jersey during his first term as president, where Team USA decisively defeated Team International 19-11.
For the competition taking place next month, Brandt Snedeker will captain Team USA against Team International, led by Australian captain Jeff Ogilvy.
This appointment joins Trump as one of six former U.S. presidents to have served as honorary presidents of the presidential election: Joe Biden, Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, and Gerald Ford.
Furthermore, at the most recent Presidents Cup in 2024 at the Royal Montreal, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau attended the award ceremony, as did other world leaders who have held this position, such as former Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and former South Korean President Park Geun-hye.
