Bangkok: The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society is fast-tracking the development of an innovative application named Defend to help protect citizens from scammers and call center gangs. Mr. Prasert Chantarawongthong, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Economy and Society, announced that the app is intended as a New Year's gift, although it is expected to be available only after the New Year festival. According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Prasert emphasized that the Defend application is currently under development and aims to alert users about potentially fraudulent calls. The application is being developed in collaboration with relevant agencies to ensure its effectiveness in preventing call center scams. Although it cannot be provided immediately as a New Year's gift, the Ministry is committed to completing the app as soon as possible to serve as a protective tool for the public. In addition to the app, Mr. Prasit mentioned other initiatives to serve the public during the holiday season. T hese include offering free internet services at various travel hubs, such as bus and train stations, a service that the government has been providing annually to facilitate connectivity for travelers.
