The acting abbot of Wat Dhammakaya Phra Vithespavanajarn was released Monday afternoon after he turned himself in to acknowledge charges related to 19 cases against him.
The acting abbot smiled but did not talk to reporters after he was released by police at Klong Luang district police office. He was welcomed by a group of followers who showed up at the police station to give him moral support.
Later on, Phra Maha Noppornpunyachayo, assistant director of the temple's organizational communications office, told the media that the temple would like to thank the police for facilitating the legal proceedings.
